Urdu is a language spoken and also written in northwestern and central southern of pakistan, the eastern half of Afghanistan, and some adjacent areas in northeastern india. Urdu is one of the official languages of Pakistan having been designated as such on March 23, 1949. Its literary form can be traced back to the Mughal era when it was used by senior bureaucrats in North India.
